Parties!

Hello again, even though I am on break from school I have still been kept very busy, but at least it is fun stuff : ). I have been to lots of parties this month; here is some description of them.

The first party was the care group Christmas party! It was a lot of fun; every one was supposed to dress "funky formal" i.e. "formal with a twist." We had lots of good food, and we did a white elephant gift exchange. I didn't take many pictures, but here are a few...

Chara and I

A bit later in the month was the annual Access Christmas Banquet/benefit. Most of the money (that not spent on the party itself) is sent to Covenant Mercies. Everyone dressed up formally, and came for a great night of yummy food and fabulous entertainment by some talented people in our church. Sadly, I did not bring my camera :(

Two other events for which I did not have my camera was Kaitlin's birthday party cookie exchange, and Chara and Jimmy's Christmas caroling party. Both of these events were a lot of fun!
Well I suppose my next post will have to do with Christmas day itself! Merry Christmas everyone!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well here finally is a quick update (I wonder how many people actually read this anyway? :) )

As you can see from the title I have been pretty busy lately with school, church stuff, etc. School is ALMOST OVER though, and then hopefully I can blog a bit more during my break! I have 3 finals left to take this week and then I will be free! I have already registered for next semester and I am planning on taking: A course on teaching Elem. Science, Intro to Econ, Child Development, Adv. Composition, and a math class called Number Systems and Discrete Mathematics (not sure what it is, but its a requirement for my major)!

I can hardly believe that Thanksgiving is already past and Christmas is almost here! December will still be busy, but a fun kind of busy. One of the things I am looking forward to is the Access Christmas Banquet/Benefit. Another Christmas party - my care group's - has already occured. I will post on that soon!

Joel is getting soooo big! He can already sit up on his own, and my mom will soon be giving him his first taste of real food: bannanas! It is hard to believe that he will be 6 mos old in January! I will try to post some new pictures of him ASAP.

I end this post with a question for you! What is one of your favorite Christmas traditions? Leave a comment and let me know!

Beach

Sunday night was Access Commnity Groups. All the groups met together, and we went to the beach! It was a lot of fun. I went in the water a little bit and it was surprisingly warm. We played ultimate frisbee, ate Dairy Queen, and spent some time worshiping, and then had a time for people to share about what God was doing in their lives (especially through Next). I ended up getting home really late that night (by the time we dropped some people off back at the church, and then drove another girl back to her house), but it was a wonderful time!

Busy, Busy, Busy

This past weekend was busy, but fun. My friend Laura came over on Friday, and we both went to see Kaitlin's gradutation (congratulations friend!), then Laura spent the night both that night and Saturday night. Saturday was the Access Coffee House/Open Mike Night. It was fun and there were many wonderful performances. Sunday after church, Laura, Liz, Alexandra, and I went out to lunch at Firehouse subs (yummy), and then Laura, Alexandra, and I went to Wal-Mart to buy some snacks to take to NEXT. I can hardly believe it; only 6 more days!

This coming week is going to be busy as well. My self-defense class at school (for PE credit) starts tomorrow so I have that tomorrow and Wednesday. I work Tuesday and Thursday as usual, and Wednesday is Ladies Meeting. Then on Friday some of the girls in our carpool will be spending the night, and on Saturday morning we leave for NEXT!

First Week of School

Hello all, today was my first class of the spring semester. I am taking Statistics, Geography, Political Science (American politics), Asian history, and Technology in the Classroom (an education course for my major). So far things seem to be going well and I think that I will like my professors (I have not met my STAT professor yet as we have a sub for the 1st week). It does look like some of my classes have some assignments that will take a lot of work, but hopefully nothing too terrible :). I do not think I have very many papers to write (which is a good thing), but I do have some projects for my Tech course that will take some time.
I have a pretty easy schedule this semester (unlike what I though it was going to be!) I am at school 9-2 and I have an online class.

Later this week, I am looking forward to care group and singles' meeting! It feels like it has been so long since we had a care group what with Christmas and all; it will be nice to have it again.

Hope you all have a great week!

Lets Eat Italian!

Last night was our church's singles groups Italian night! Everyone brought a dish to share and the church provided desserts and refreshments. The food was sooo delicious! They also had some fun contests. The first was one were each table sent up a girl representative and they each competed to draw a picture of Eric (the pastor who leads our group). The pictures were hilarious. Then they had a contest were one guy representative came from each table and they had to compete buy singing opera. This was funny to watch! Then they gave announced the winners for the food. They had a most creative, best dish that a girl brought, and the best dish a guy brought. Then they had a prize for the worst food, which they judged by its being the one that was the least eaten.

This night was so much fun.

Community Groups and House Sitting

Community group tonight was great. I went to Katy and Clay's (sorry if I misspelled your names) group. We met at her parents house and went out on the dock and had a time of worship and then a time for those who had been to New Attitude to share about it if they wanted. After that we had a fire and toasted marshmallows to make smores and we had a great time of fellowship.

I have an exciting plan for this summer....Lyndsey and I are going to housesit for a couple in my church for about two weeks! I am so excited, I think it is going to be so much fun! Maybe I will write about it and post pictures
